We have just finished our third Quarantine of 15 alpaca from Australia.
It is very interesting to see the improved fleeces every shipment is better than the one before most of this last load are so nice and so consistent in their over all fineness.
Most would qualifie for the ultra fine bale . Two young girls here are16.5 and have sibs that are more remarkable, one of those girls is dark fawn and has been bred to the record holding producer of a cria that has a an unbelievable 12.5 ,,,One male is so nice in this group I would do just about anything to keep him but I think ,the owner may have other plans ... It is like being 5 and living in a candy store.
I want a camera for my head so I can show the aussies How different farming is in Manitoba where we just broke records for cold and wind chill.
The crias are being born ..this is cria time in Australia, extra care over here. all moms and cria are in heated barns under camera and audio 24/7, extra vitamins and exposure to light ,biggest issue in our very frigit temp.so far everyone is doing well. warming up in next few days .
The next shipment is getting organized in Australia and for us it is like a new box of chocolates, what temptation
I would love to keep a certain male here maybe I should look for multiple owners? Any one have any experience with setting up agreements that work?
