I saw this used at a friends farm. The problem that he saw and that was very obvious to visitors was that it smelled REALLY foul. It seems like the urine must be hard to clean out of the foam. He washed it quite often but could not get rid of the od…

Hi Jami, We have purchased well over 100 alpacas, and about 10 from Canada over the years. We had good experience with all Canadian purchases, except for running into US border control issues. I believe it is more risky, because of potential legal…

I think you're right. I am nervous about completely relying on the electric fence. We were thinking we would make a smaller area that we put traditional no climb horse fence on the inside of the electric fence and keep them there most of the time. Only let them into the big hay field a few hours a day when we are watching them. At least until we get a feel for our neighborhood critters. The neighbors are all farms with electric fence and barbwire and they all say they don't have a problem with coyotes. But, most of the farms are horse and cows. I don't really see dogs chasing cows around. LOL!

Thank you for the encouragement! I am so excited! The new farm has 5 acres of Electric fenced pasture (Orchard Grass) and A Small Barn. The electric fencing is 3 low strands. The poles are high and I think If I space out 2 more rounds of electric fencing it will be perfect for Alpacas. Maybe even one round could just be uncharged. Had goats before. I just can't wait!
