good and bad hay

with the price of timothy and orchard hay going up, up, up

everytime I turn around, I am looking for alternatives.

Can I supliment with a good quality alfalfa?  say 2/3 timothy and 1/3 alfalfa. can I feed more pellets and less hay? I know these are things I should know already, but I thought maybe other people could get in on this discussion. The price of hay is putting us small Alpaca Farmers out of business. Any ideas out there??

He has been eating grain, hay and alfalfa. He is also drinking plenty of water. He is peeing and pooping. I took him to the vet yesterday, he said his color was good, he's alert, he had a… Continue
